Our Aim;
The promotion of friendship & understanding through Koi.
To have available an advisory service to all koi keepers.
To hold shows, displays & exhibitions to help introduce our hobby to the public.
Public entrance to such events is free. This is a family oriented club.

WHAT IS THE AUSTRALIAN KOI ASSOCIATION?
A group of people with a common interest in Koi expressed in a diversity of preferences for types of Koi & aspects of their keeping. Members may bring Koi to bench at the meeting & enter the monthly points score competition. These are judged & the results accumulated for prizes given at the end of the year. Some enjoy the spirit of competition & achieve good results with home grown Koi. To see the hall filled with tanks of good quality fish is an uplifting experience & for many this is sufficient reward for their effort.
After dealing with the business of the Association and news of activities in the Koi world, a raffle with either Koi or other prizes is drawn and there is a break for refreshments. In chatting to other Koi keepers about their Koi you can gain many useful tips. This is complimented by a borrowing from the Association`s libary & the helpful articles in the bi-monthly magazine. After the break there is usually an illustrated lecture on Koi culture by an expert in their field. At other times there are Koi auctions, a panel discussion & demonstrations. There are many opportunities for involvement. You may help with the setting up & running of our public shows or you may wish to serve on the committee. There are also open day pond inspections of member`s ponds. Membership of A.K.A. offers greater pleasure from your Koi, acquaintances with others of similar interest & perhaps lasting friendships. If you would like to know more, please come to a meeting & make yourself known to the host or hostess, or please phone 02) 9533 2546

A.K.A. CLUB HISTORY
The club was formed in 1981 with 37 members which broke away from the K.S.A., & formed a new club called Australian Koi Association. 2006 was our 25th Anniversary of our clubs formation.
Over the years the membership has grown and all monies raised have been put towards improvement in the club for - meeting nights, shows & auctions, and also to improve the knowledge & breeding of Koi in Australia through this website.
A lot of changes have occurred since the club was formed, from the first President of our club which was Robert Yandell, we have 11 life members which were noted for their achievements & benefits contributed to Koi Keeping in Australia. One of our life members, who passed away in 2000, contributed in a great many ways & was also the backbone to making the structure of the club as strong as it is today.
Our President is also committed to expanding the knowledge & enjoyment of our hobby to more people thoughtout Australia and, through our Webmaster, to the World.
